Original pairs of Lacrinoid door knobs on backplates dating from the 1940's.
Unusual design with a captive rotating knob.
Made of a beautiful black Lacrinoid (similar to Bakelite) the knob is set on an oblong backplate with keyhole.
The pairs are complete with the spindle, suitable for 44mm thick doors. If your door is thinner than this the spindle can be cut down.
The knobs are unsprung and so the latch will need to be sprung.
The knob is 40mm diameter and the backplate is 15cm high x 4.5 wide. Centre of spindle to centre of key 5.5cm. The fixing centres are 13.5 and 2.8cm.
15 pairs available.
Made by Lacrinoid Products Ltd the knob is very similar to a handle featured in the company's advert in the September 1947 edition of the Journal of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Good condition. Some have been used and there is some light wear and paint residue. I have left them 'as found' so that buyers can see that it is original not reproduction.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
