A copy of the Stratford on Avon Official guide dated 1957 issued by the Corporation of Stratford-on-Avon.
Comprising 84 pages plus covers the guide gives details of the town and the surrounding areas and was intended for people visiting the area.
There are details of the town, its history and the facilities available. Obviously the Shakespear connection features heavily in the guides. A plan of the town and another of the wider area are included, together with black and white photographs.
At the back of there are many pages of adverts mostly for the local hotels and boarding houses but also for other local businesses. Many of the hotel adverts do include beautiful illustrations of the establishments.
There is a separate 12 page Accommodation Register giving details of hotels, guest houses and restaurants in the town.
The guide is 215 x 140mm with thin card covers. It has been used and so there is some wear but overall it is in good condition.
