Not sure whether to describe this as a paper knife or letter opener but have opted for letter opener.
It advertises E. J. Thompson & Co Ltd, plumbers and heating engineers from Redruth in Cornwall.
Made of an ivory coloured plastic it has a clear perspex section that covers a leatherette insert carrying the company details. The other side of the insert is blank.
Given the way this is made I would imagine they were made in bulk and then the inserts individually printed.
The blade of the knife carries the name elk and Made in England.
There is nothing to give the age but as a guess I would put it as being from the 1970's or 80's.
Size 245mm long, 27mm wide and 12mm thick.
It is a little grubby, mainly on the moulding lines, but overall it is in good condition.
