These are milk and bread tokens issued by Northampton Co-operative Society Ltd. They are mostly made of aluminium and there are 7 tokens all together.
The 4 larger bread tokens are 32 x 23mm, they have the company name and the word bread. The 2 smaller bread tokens are 23mm diameter and have a reduced version of the company name and the wording small loaf.
The milk token is blue plastic and has the company name and Dairy Dept on one side and 1 pint milk on the other side.
The larger bread tokens have the name Ardill Leeds, which must refer to the token and check maker Ardill & Co of Leeds.
There is no indication of a date but I would imagine that the metal tokens date from the 40's or 50's and the plastic milk token being a bit newer.
All have been used and so there is wear and tarnishing to all the tokens, nevertheless they are still in pretty good condition.
Interesting items of Co-operative advertising with local interest to Northampton.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
Postage is for UK only, please enquire for overseas postage.
These tokens are currently out of stock.
