At home in Sherwood, a guide to the "villages and great houses in the Forest today". The book was published in 1971 jointly by the Nottinghamshire Building Preservation Trust and Nottinghamshire County Council.
It was written and illustrated by Philip Crowe, an architect with the Nottinghamshire County Planning Department.
The book starts with the history of Sherwood Forest and then moves on to an assessment of the main villages and Great Houses within the Forest. There are numerous illustrations and maps of these villages etc.
It was intended as a guide to future developments in the Forest and highlights both the merits and the failings of the villages with the intention of guiding future builders etc towards maintaining and restoring the character of the area.
Size A4, it comprises 48 pages with card covers in a black plastic comb binding.
There is some wear to the edges and corners of the pages but overall these are in good condition. The comb binding is broken in 2 places but is still fully functional.
A very good item for anyone interested in the Sherwood Forest area of Nottinghamshire.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects, but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
