This is a "Reliable" Postal box made by Horton & Arlidge Ltd of Northampton. It is marked as being a sample and so presumably it was available in a variety of sizes.
According to Grace's Guide Horton & Arlidge Ltd were established in 1884 and feature in Whitaker's Red book of 1914 at their Campbell Square address. It is difficult to date this box but at a guess it probably dates from the 1930's or 40's.
Size 160 x 75mm and approx 30mm deep. The box is made of a very thick card with metal reinforcement at the corners and so is a very sturdy box. It is in very good condition.
