These unusual items are tie presses and are just what every self respecting man in the 1950's needed.
You fold your tie over the slide, open the press by squeezing the two sides and then slot in your dishevelled tie , release the sides and leave your tie overnight and in the morning a perfect tie!
I have 2 different types, the first was made by Watts of Birmingham and the registered design numbers dates them from between 1950 and about 1955. At present I have this tie press in green and in cream.
The second type is un-named and is probably older, it is made in 2 shades of green with the press-in sides being in a darker green to the main body. Both types are made from a urea formaldehyde resin.
The Watts press size is 240 x 95mm and 40mm thick and the earlier press little larger, but both will fit very neatly in a suitcase when travelling!
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
