An illustrated guide to the island of Majorca written by Lorenzo Villalonga with photographs by Eugen Haas. First published in 1951 this is a second impression published in 1952. It is part of the Andar y Ver Guides to Spain collection, which also includes guides to the principal cities of Spain.
The first section of 30 pages is a written guide to the island detailing the main features and describes several day trips for visitors. This is followed by 38 pages of black and white photographs which show clearly how the island looked at the time.
Inside the back over is a pocket containing a map of the island, size 470 x 340mm, and a "Practical Information Supplement". This supplement lists hotels, restauraunts, cinemas and other places of interest around the island. This has been anotated by a previous owner who obviously took several of the 'motor coach' excursions.
Size 185 x 125mm.
It has been fairly well used and so there is wear to the covers. A small (10mm) section of the spine is missing. This wear is largely because the cover is larger than the main body of the book making the edges prone to damage. The main body of the book is in good condition.
This is a very interesting guide to the island before it became a tourist hot spot.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
