Hippo shaped buttons, red
5 lovely hippopotamus shaped vintage buttons.
A very cute design they are 20 x 14mm and approx 2mm thick. Sold as set of 5 only.
They are made of a red phenolic resin, (similar to Bakelite but a different manufacturing process). They have been used so there is some surface scratching but this is not significant. The edges are also rounded from wear.
There is nothing to give an age but looking at the material and the wear I would guess they are from the 1940's.
These buttons are ideal for children's clothes and would look very good on the right garment. Also an unusual design for any button collection.
