A monochrome postcard of Hoylake Promenade. Nice street scene with quite a few cars and the now demolished Hoylake Lido in the background. With the exception of the Lido the scene is very similar today.
It was posted in 1942 with a Cheshire postmark. Interesting message on the back that says that all the cafes were closed due to an invasion.
I didn't realise that Hoylake was invaded during WW2, but perhaps they were talking of an invasion of insects.
Published as part of Valentine's Silveresque series, it has the reference number 222867.
It is a bit grubby and the franking is showing through on the front but still a good card.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
