This is a view of Humberstone Gate in Leicester as seen from Gallowtree Gate. An early card but must be later than 1904 as it has the overhead lines for the trams and the rails are just visible.
Good street scene with a mixture of vehicles including a horse and cart, car and handcart together with a policeman and tram inspector.
The entrance to the old Bell Hotel can be seen but not the Lewis's building as this opened in the 1930's. There is no message on the back and the card has not been posted.
Nice coloured card. Published by PPC in their Philco Series, series number 4685. It says "British Manufacture".
It is undated but it is likely to be before or just after WW1. Good condition, some rounding at corners.
