An old colour postcard of Leicester Prison on Welford Road. On this card the image is set within an embossed oval.
The prison building has not changed since the postcard was published but the road in front is now a lot busier. Interesting that the picture includes the supports for the overhead tram cables but the cables themselves cannot be seen.
The card was published by W. H. S. & S. L. which is W H Smith. It is marked as being printed in Prussia. Before WW1 many postcards were printed in Germany.
The postcard is unposted and undated but I would think it dates from just before WW1.
There is some very slight rounding of the corners otherwise it is in good condition.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
Postage is for UK only, please enquire for overseas postage.
