A very interesting remembrance card of A Mission in the Parish of St John, Smallbridge near Rochdale.
Not sure what this Mission was but I notice that it does say "In the Parish of St John" and not "at the Church of" and so I assume that this must have been some sort of outreach event by the Church.
The event took place during February of 1889 and the card includes, a bible text, an extract from a popular Hymn plus the names of the Missioner and the Vicar. Presumably the Missioner was someone from the broader Church of England who came in to run the event. I would love to know more about these Missions.
The size is approx 180 x 115mm and is on a heavy card. It has two ringed holes at the top and so presumably it was hung up at at some time.
There is some creasing of the corners, notably top left, and it is generally a bit grubby but overall it is still in pretty good condition.
A very interesting item for collectors of religious or Lancashire ephemera.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
