This guidebook covers the Festival of Britain Pleasure Gardens at Battersea Park. This was a more lighthearted area compared to the educational and promotional intentions of the main South Bank Exhibition.
The book has a centrefold map of the gardens and short articles on the various attractions in the gardens. Each of these articles is nicely illustrated by the various artists involved with the Festival including John Piper and Emmett.
There are also many pages of adverts for products of the time and some of these are very evocative of the period, they include a Guiness advert featuring the clock and a Biro advert showing the iconic Festival pen and stand.
The guide has 52 pages plus covers. Size 245 x 185mm with paper covers.
The covers have some very slight creasing and there is a 20mm tear at the base of the spine but overall this copy is in good condition.
