A lovely pair of old Bakelite Maracas.
Made under the Supremo brand they are a beautiful mix of dark browns, red, greens etc.
The Bakelite heads are in 2 halves with wooden handles fixed by a screw and metal disc at the top.
Difficult to date but looking at the materials and colours I would think that they date from the 1940's or 50's.
They have the name Supremo and Made in England on the disc at the top of each maraca.
The main 'ball' is almost spherical, 95mm diameter with a lip at the edge of each half so that they fit together correctly. The shaped beech handles are 110mm long.
Overall they are in good condition. There is a small repaired crack to 1 half of 1 maraca, see photographs 7 & 8.
Very interesting vintage percussion instruments that are still perfectly useable.
