A very unusual programme for the "Butlin Holiday Camps 7 Day Cycle Race".
Held in 1951 it was a 7 day stage race around various Butlin Holiday Camps, starting in Clacton and finishing in Pwllheli.
The race was held under B.L.R.C. rules at a time when massed start cycle racing was still pretty controversial.
The programme has 12 pages plus card covers and gives details of the route of each stage and lists the riders taking part, plus other useful information. Photographs of some of the riders taking part and a photo of the start of the Brighton to Glasgow race are included as a centre spread.
It is 220 x 140mm in size. There is some wear to the front cover, notably top right corner, but overall it is in pretty good condition.
A very interesting piece of cycling ephemera from a time when massed start road racing was trying to become established in this country.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
