These are bakelite coin bowls that would have been used in Post Offices for sorting coins and issuing change.
They came in a variety of different sizes to suit the different coins and would have been used in a change drawer for the Post Office cashiers.
The bowls are 135mm diameter and 80mm high. They have a lip around the top where they would have been set into drawers in the Post Office.
They were made for the Post Office by E K Cole of Southend on Sea who are best known for making radios and similar equipment. The name E K Cole is on the base of the bowls together with the reference number 01495.
There is some slight surface scratching and very minor 'nibbles' on the underside of the rims but this is consistent with their age. Overall quite interesting pieces.
