This is a cased syringe set which would have formed part of the equipment set used by a doctor or nurse.
The set is housed in a cylindrical bakelite case with the syringe, with needle, at one end and 3 additional needles at the other. The caps on each end are named and each has a different shape, presumably this was to help identification in poor light.
It was made by Down Bros of London and their name appears on the case and on the syringe and needles. There is the reference number P1521 on the outer case. Overall the case is 165mm long and 25mm in diameter.
I am not sure how old this is, but Down Brothers changed their name in 1948 and so it must pre-date that.
The set has been used but is generally in good condition. There is a small section of thread missing at the syringe end, see 2nd photo, and a couple of 'nibbles' to the case. I have left the set as I found it.
This is a very interesting item and would be good for anyone collecting old medical instruments or equipment.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects, but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
