A monochrome postcard of the Maiwand Memorial in Forbury Park, Reading, Berkshire.
The memorial commemorates the men from the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot who lost their lives during the Battle of Maiwand in the Anglo-Afghan war between 1878 and 1880. The memorial itself remains the same today but the background has change considerably.
Published by Valentines it has the reference number 71814.
It is unposted and undated but judging by the clothes of the ladies in the picture I would guess that it probably from just after the First World War.
The card is in good condition.
