These are 2 programmes from concerts in Wisbech in 1938 and 1945. Both relate to chapels in the town.
The first programme dates from 1938 and took place at Ely Place Baptist Church to celebrate the opening of their new "Hammond Electric Organ". This included an organ recital and several religious items. Interestingly there was a collection towards the cost of the new organ, and so whilst they were celebrating the opening of the organ they had not actually fully paid for it.
This is a nice item as the Ely Place Baptist Church no longer exists. I wonder what happened to the organ?
The second programme dates from 1945 and was for a concert given by the prize winners of the 10th Musical Festival arranged by Wisbech & District Sunday School Union. The concert was held at The Women's Institute Hall in Wisbech. From the programme it would seem that the prize winner's test pieces were repeated at the concert. Given that the programme is 75 years old some of the younger performers may still be living in the area.
The programme sizes vary slightly but average 205 x 135mm and are single sheets folded in half. Both were printed by A Killingback. The programmes are creased but are still still fully readable.
An interesting item for collectors of Wisbech or chapel ephemera.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
