A monochrome postcard of The Beach & Royal Hotel, Lowestoft in Suffolk. Busy scene with the South Pier in the foreground.
This view is now completely different as the Royal Hotel has been demolished together with the church that can be seen to the right of the picture. The South Pier has also changed considerably.
A good postcard but with no details of the publisher. It was posted in 1904 to an address in Sompting, Sussex.
The stamp has been stuck on sideways which in Victorian times was meant to signify "Thinking of you", so perhaps a hidden message.
The card is a little grubby but generally is in pretty good condition.
