An old postcard titled "Victoria Park and Church Leicester". Interestingly the card is not a photo of Victoria Park but Victoria Road before it was renamed as University Road.
The photo shows what is now University Road with the former Baptist Church on the right at the junction with London Road. New Walk can be seen on the right of the picture. The buildings on London Road are much as they are today although the building directly facing University Road has changed.
The card was published in Leicester as part of the Woodward's Series. It has "Printed in Saxony" in the area for the stamp. You would think that a publisher from Leicester would get the title of the card correct!
It is unposted and undated but I would estimate that it dates from the early 1900's judging by the clothes of the people in the picture.
Good condition although there is some slight rounding of the corners.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
Postage is for UK only, please enquire for overseas postage.
