The Festival of Britain generated a very wide range of souvenirs, these quite unusual ones are boxed bars of soap. They were manufactured by Richard Wheen & Sons Ltd, London SE8, "Makers of fine soaps since 1769".
One side of the soap has the Festival of Britain logo and on the other it has a picture of the Crystal Palace with the words "The Great Exhibition 1851" around the perimeter. The soap is 70mm in diameter and 9mm thick.
These were produced in 2 different colour boxes red and blue (I have never seen any other colours) and at the moment I have a red boxed soap in stock.
There is some damage to the back of the box where a label has been removed. The soap has not been used.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects, but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
