An old bakelite inkwell with a base for paperclips etc and a recess for pens. The inkwell can be separated from the base.
Made of a green bakelite it has darkened over time, but it is still a lovely colour. Green seems to be the worst colour for darkening, the original colour can be seen on the underside.
On the underside of the base it says British Made with the letter S set in an oval.
The base is 135 x 165mm and an overall height of 80mm to the top of the inkwell, the inkwell is about 60mm diameter.
