These are a collection of 12 billheads from various businesses in Halstead, Essex. The earliest is dated 1912 and the latest 1915. The majority of them refer to the Halstead Science & Art Club. I cannot find any current reference to this and so presumably it no longer exists.
The companies who billheads are included are
Halstead Urban District Council
Halstead Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd
Carter and Sons, Printers, stationers & news agents
Barry & Co, Printers, publishers & stationers
W North, Seedsman
Bull Hotel
A lot of the billheads are for printing etc but the W North billhead is for a wreath and those from Halstead Co-op and the Urban District Council are for room hire. The hire of lantern slides is included on one billhead from Carter and Son. The billhead from the Bull Hotel is for accommodation for (I think) a Mr Shrubsole, the writing is unclear. He was probably a guest speaker as there is also a booking for the Co-op Assembly Hall on the same date, 15th November 1912.
The sizes vary, the smallest is the Halstead Council receipt at 160 x 100mm and the largest a billhead from Carter and Son at 260 x 210mm.
The billheads have all been folded and there is some damage to the edges but all of them are complete and fully readable.
This is a very interesting collection of Halstead ephemera and would give a local historian valuable information on the life in the town at the time.
Please note. I do my best to accurately photograph and describe the condition of the items for sale, including any minor defects, but all pieces are vintage and have had previous lives and so may have minor flaws.
